Turning roadblocks into stepping stones for growth, I embraced every experience, drew strength from those who supported me and forged ahead with the unwavering determination to transform adversity into triumph.
Amidst the 2008 economic downturn, I found myself not just surviving, but thriving, as a real estate agent. However, as the years
rolled on, the tides gradually began to shift. The stream of regular business suddenly teetered off. After a strong start to my career, I had to reevaluate everything, continuing to push forward with no clear view of what the future held.
For my entire life, I have believed that I can achieve anything if I work harder and want it more than anyone else. My father always told me, “You're only as good as your work. Make sure if you do a job, you do it right and you do it with pride.” This ethos inspired me to excel in athletics and gave me the drive to push past any obstacles I face.
After high school, I enlisted in the U.S. Airforce, an experience that reinforced my understanding that discipline, camaraderie and perseverance were not just abstract ideals but the bedrock upon which success was built. From there, I moved into semiprofessional athletics and arena football, continuing to develop my teamwork mentality and leadership abilities.
My experiences in the military and athletics have proven to be invaluable upon entering the world of real estate in 2007. Through the housing market crash and the insurmountable challenges a new agent faces, I pushed through it all, determined to build something of value for myself and the clients I serve. Specializing in military relocations, I find immense pride in my work. Helping people through the life-changing process of buying or selling real estate is an honor and privilege – true success is
measured by the number of lives I can positively impact.
By 2011, my momentum in real estate slowed down. While my wife went to school for massage therapy while working full time, she became our household's sole provider. Her unwavering support was critical to my success in reestablishing a stable income through real estate. This was the time to rise above the adversity and find a new way forward.
My relentless approach became a defining factor in my career. There is no quitting – I will keep working until I get the job done. What I found was people appreciated the high level of commitment I offer. I remain dedicated to the mission until it is complete. The result? My clients are fully satisfied, and I continue to grow a client base that trusts in me and my abilities. This approach has led to over 75% of my business coming from repeat and referral clients.
While it didn't happen overnight, my hard work ultimately paid off. By 2013, I had a steady income again and was presented with the opportunity to buy Vegas One Realty. Taking the reins, I orchestrated a complete overhaul, working 14-to-17-hour days establishing new systems and processes to deliver the best services possible. I felt a profound responsibility not only to my business but to the entire profession. As my own boss, there is an immense amount of freedom, but I choose to embrace that and shape the business into something I am proud of, no matter the amount of work that entails.
As I reflect on this transformative journey, I feel a deep sense of gratitude for the experiences and opportunities I have had, as well as for those who walked alongside me. It is a priority to give back to my community and serve veterans, sponsoring military
and law enforcement athletic teams as well as youth sports. When not working, my wife and I enjoy traveling, spending time at our home in Maui and having a relaxing night at home with our four dogs, Ampton, Sassy, Max and Jack.
When one way no longer works, you need to adapt and find another. This mentality is vital in the ever-changing world of real estate. My clients come to me because they trust in my expertise, guiding them through the process and navigating any obstacles that may arise. As the owner of Vegas One Realty, along with a property management company and a commercial real estate company, I offer a uniquely vast understanding of the industry. Additionally, I am a mortgage broker specializing in VA loans. When you come to me with a goal, no matter how big or small, I have the resources and know-how to make it a reality.
When you work with me, I take the time to learn your unique motivations; whether that be finding a home for your family, relocating, investing or planning for retirement, I want to help you find the best solution that aligns with your goals. When the transaction is over, I will remain your trusted REALTOR® for life, offering support and services for any of your future needs.
Sincerely,
Tommy Leigh
